RHINO Contemporary Craft Gallery announces a new exhibit “Muses: Art Inspired by Artists.” The show by RHINO artists and invited guest artists will feature over 25 pieces in a wide array of media: glass, metal, fiber, wood, clay, collage, drawings, photography and mixed media. The show opens with a reception on Thursday, October 20, from 5 to 8 pm in the gallery in The Shops at Canal Place.

The exhibiting artists were inspired by fellow artists as varied as Alexander McQueen, Leonardo da Vinci, Kandinsky, Salvador Dali and Dr. Seuss. Jeweler Natalie Nichols will show a costume inspired by fashion designer John Galliano; Paige Moran shows a handmade collage book inspired by book artist Lucas Samaras. Silk painter Kathy Schorr’s piece is a silk wall hanging inspired by Georgia O’Keefe’s magnification of nature into abstraction; jeweler Tamara Carboni will show a silver piece inspired by Spanish architect Antonio Gaudi.

The exhibit will remain up through Saturday, November 19.

Description: The June 11 children’s workshop will be conducted by Kathleen Grumich and Cathy Cooper-Stratton. Shoelaces will be painted in a tye-dye effect. Fiber paint is non-toxic, but will stain. It is suggested that old clothes and/or covering t-shirt be worn.
