The need to create and work with my hands is what drives me. I’ve always liked the challenge of piecing objects together and problem solving. As a native New Orleanean, involvement in the historic preservation, genealogy and amateur archaeology of the city has provided a strong foundation for the context of my work as an artisan. Jewelry making brings curiosity and my love of research and detail together for me. To learn all its skills, techniques, and processes could take several lifetimes.

Of the many techniques I use to make my work, my favorite is an ancient one used in seal making. I begin a new form by carving a stone negative in reverse. I then make a wax positive which can be cast in either sterling or gold. This is known as the “lost wax process”, as the wax model is entirely replaced by the metal. My current work uses local architectural and botanical forms and textures to create a distinct mood. “All Saints” incorporates the limitless symbolism found in our famous cemeteries.
