I find inspiration in natural and geometric forms, as well as Asian and African art and of course living in New Orleans. The annual cycle of life in this city presents ever-changing stimuli for all of the senses.
Life is largely about ritual and change. My “ritual objects” are things that can be used during rituals, which include sacred days like Mardi Gras, Easter and Christmas, as well as profane events, like as Jazz Fest, birthdays, dinner parties and any celebration.. I am also raising everyday things to the level of art.
For the past 18 years, I have been working with the intense colors of anodized aluminum but I am beginning to rediscover materials and techniques from my past, including found objects, copper and other metals, and metal weaving.
