I was a ceramic artist for 25 years until Katrina changed my life. After losing my house and my studio I spent every spare moment taking photographs on the streets of New Orleans.
My images captured the fractured city, the treasures that became trash, the architectural elements that bent but held, the wacky signs that everyone seemed to post. I attempted to show the ambiance of a beautiful broken city that had taken on an other-worldly grace.
The result is a collection of collages assembled from my photographs. I took the smallest details from hundreds of my photos to create whole new stories about post-Katrina New Orleans. Everything in my collages is exclusively from my photographs.
